Addis Ababa’s exhibition landscape is quietly active this August, offering a useful route for artists,
collectors, and art readers who want to stay connected to the city’s visual culture. From major
galleries to art schools and cultural institutions, several venues are currently presenting or recently
hosting exhibitions that reflect the range of contemporary art activity in the capital.
Current exhibitions
Addis Fine Art is presenting Tizta Berhanu: Toyota Tsusho CFAO African Art Award Exhibition,
Togo through 31 August 2026. The gallery is located at 3rd Floor, Wold Fikir Building, Bole
Medhane Alem, Addis Ababa, making it one of the most accessible stops for visitors interested in
contemporary African art.
Studio 11 Art Gallery is currently showing Grammar of Healing through 10 September 2026.
Located on the 1st Floor of Zemilo Hotel Apartment, the gallery continues to position itself as a
space for emerging voices and thoughtfully curated exhibitions.
Alliance Ethio-Française remains an important venue for visual arts in Addis Ababa, with What
Shadow Owes To Light Exhibition listed as open until 14 December. The institution is located at
2PJV+VV4, Addis Ababa, and is also publicly associated with Wavel Street, B.P. 1733, Addis
Abeba.
School exhibitions
Alle School of Fine Arts and Design continues to play a central role in the city’s artistic life through
student and graduate exhibitions. Its annual presentation of emerging work remains one of the most
important moments for following the next generation of Ethiopian artists.
T.M.S. Teknikal School’s Annual Graduates Exhibition also deserves attention as part of Addis
Ababa’s broader exhibition calendar. Graduate shows like this offer a useful window into new creative
directions, fresh talent, and the evolving relationship between education and public-facing art in the
city.
Venues shaping the scene
Addis House of Culture continues to stand out as a multidisciplinary space for exhibitions,
screenings, performances, and public programs. Its recent exhibition listing, Gebeya, ran from 30
June to 18 August 2026, reinforcing the venue’s role as a regular contributor to Addis Ababa’s
cultural calendar.
Another recent highlight was Painting Choices at Laphto Contemporary Art Gallery, which ran
from 12 to 19 August 2026. The project brought together ten Addis Ababa University artists in
